Clenbuterol (also called Clen) is a prescription drug originally intended as a bronchodilator. Recently this medicament became very popular among people trying to lose weight, although there is not enough scientific evidence to support such use as yet. The more traditional non-medical use of Clenbuterol is in aerobic sports like cycling. It acts by stimulating release of catecholamine hormones from adrenal gland (epinephrine, norepinephrine and dopamine), increasing the aerobic capacity, stimulating the nervous system, facilitating oxygen transportation, increasing thermogenesis and stimulating/inhibiting certain specific muscles. The results of such action are increased blood pressure, easier breathing, stimulation of heart muscle, rise in the body-temperature and most importantly fat and protein burning. It means this is actually a catabolic drug used in bodybuilding to get leaner, “cut” look.

Safety: Some animal studies concluded that Clenbuterol can cause changes in the heart muscle, namely enlargement of the left ventricle. It seems, though, that these side-effects can only be caused by very high Clenbuterol intake, in the amounts not realistic in humans.
